Chapter 1

The air conditioning, disinfectant, a hint of blood in the wind, and the smell of rotting protein mixed together, creating a somewhat overripe, sweet, and fishy fragrance.

Lu Yanli was already familiar with this smell. After saying goodbye to his colleague and seeing the colleague turn around to smile at him as he walked away, waving, he entered the last subway train.

Her mouth opened wide, and a thin, long, bright red tongue stretched out. The hand twitched, trying to escape, but was entangled by the tongue extending from the huge lips and pulled in. White, sharp teeth closed, and both cheeks puffed out.

A chewing sound began.

Even though that hand was soft and boneless, Lu Yanli heard the cracking sound of bones breaking.

Lu Yanli didn’t make eye contact with those eyes. He knew that the woman on the advertisement board was definitely staring at him, so he lowered his head and played with his phone.

The door closed, and the subway car shook, starting to move forward.

That feeling of being watched didn’t disappear.

At some point, the beautiful female celebrity appeared in every window of the subway, staring at Lu Yanli with a smile.

Lu Yanli focused on playing with his phone, ignoring everything outside the window.

The subway lights were dim and yellow, mixed with an ominous dark red. The phone screen reflected the increasingly raised corners of the female celebrity’s mouth on the window, and the slowly extended long tongue.

He seemed to hear the “hiss” sound of a snake crawling. Although she was smiling, her eyes were cold.

His nose twitched.

The smell that had been pervading the car disappeared, becoming fresh and clean.

Quiet, peaceful, just like the normal world that Lu Yanli would think of deep in his memory, where he didn’t have to be so careful.

However, Lu Yanli knew that this was precisely the beginning of what he had to be wary of.

When the weird world began to disguise itself as normal, it must be hiding its fangs and then spreading its malice… everywhere.

At the next station, a group of people got on.

But that group was clearly not without interest in him.

Lu Yanli was looking down when a shadow suddenly appeared on his phone screen.

Some passengers cast envious glances.

What was going on? Even wearing a mask and hat, he could still get hit on by a beautiful woman?

Lu Yanli shook his head subconsciously, and the woman’s smile widened: “Don’t be afraid, we will all help you.”

Seeing that their most socially skilled teammate had successfully struck up a conversation with the NPC in a few words, a slightly overweight man in the group gave her a thumbs up and grinned.

Everyone slowly gathered around, clustering around Lu Yanli.

The woman said in a timely manner, “Let me introduce myself, I am Li Fangwan.”

The others also said their names.

When he said the word “things,” his expression was clearly particularly apprehensive, and his voice was also lowered unconsciously. It could be seen that he must be suffering from certain events.

The group exchanged a look, all shaking their heads, and began to speak in low voices.

“Although the risk is very high, as long as you find the rules, you can survive.”

Hearing their words, the worry between Lu Yanli’s eyebrows deepened.

He was very handsome. Even wearing a hat and mask, the slightly indifferent eyes that were revealed were easily able to make a girl’s heart flutter when they were tinged with sorrow.

“Then wouldn’t I be…” He started to say, then swallowed the words back, seeming to realize that it was inappropriate.

“Mr. Lu, would it be convenient to talk about what difficulties you have encountered recently? Maybe we can help you,” He Lou asked.

He Lou didn’t say much, giving people a feeling of being cold on the outside but warm on the inside.

Lu Yanli frowned even tighter, sighed, wanted to say something, opened his mouth, and then held back again. He looked at everyone again with some suspicion, and finally slowly began to speak.

Lu Yanli was talking when He Lou suddenly raised his hand to interrupt his narration: “Wait a minute.”

He didn’t use words like “feel,” but was certain that the lights had dimmed, and that this change must have been caused by some abnormal reason.

It was like being covered with a thin layer of blood gauze.

What… exactly was it?

“Everyone, be ready to escape at any time.” He Lou looked at Lu Yanli and added: “Don’t leave the subway, go backwards.”

“Why?” Lu Yanli asked.

Li Fangwan said softly, “Look out the window.”

Lu Yanli looked out the window and his expression changed drastically.

His face was covered by a mask, but even so, everyone could still sense the shock in his eyes.

It was no wonder he was surprised. A layer of blood fog had risen outside the window at some point, and this layer of blood fog was getting closer and denser. In just a moment, it had gathered around the subway.

It looked like it was coming for them.

“Ah! What’s going on?”

“What the hell is this?!”

Other passengers finally noticed the abnormality and screamed, one after another. Some people took off their coats and desperately tried to drive it away, trying to clear a piece of blood fog. The moment the iron door opened, they screamed and ran out, pushing each other in panic, almost causing a stampede.

Before he could finish speaking, the passenger who had already stepped half a step out of the door and was being held by him suddenly widened his eyes and screamed in pain, struggling incessantly.

“Save…”

Before the words for help could be finished, his body outside the door melted like snow in the sun, flying away. First, a layer of skin, after the epidermis was peeled off, revealed the scarlet and pale flesh inside, the white skeleton, and the still-beating organs…

Living people have only two layers of skin, but the blood fog peeled off many layers, one after another, devouring everything.

Everything happened too fast, in just an instant, the person Lu Yanli was holding was only left with a complete hand, held in Lu Yanli’s hand. He and the other passengers who hadn’t stepped out of the door were standing there in shock, not reacting even now.

The severed hand fell to the ground with a “plop,” and Lu Yanli took a step back in horror, his eyes filled with fear.

“Ah–”

On the advertisement wall was a very beautiful female celebrity. Whether it was an illusion or not, she had a weird and beautiful smile, watching everyone. The hand happened to land next to her lips, her lips moved, her long tongue stretched out, hooked the wrist into her mouth, and slowly chewed with her thin, white teeth.

A pair of beautiful and charming eyes slowly began to focus, turning to the passenger, and anyone could see the undisguised madness and malice in her eyes.

A group of people retreated in horror.

“I…” Lu Yanli was obviously hesitating.

He Lou’s face darkened: “Go! Bring him over here.”

Now the other passengers also reacted and followed them, escaping together.

Of course, also following were several other passengers, many of whom were office workers. The sudden strenuous exercise made them pant heavily. They were about to say something when they were coldly glared back by a very tall, fierce-looking man in the crowd.

Lu Yanli noticed that the gaze also swept over him with a hint of disgust. The others were also somewhat unfriendly. He breathed a sigh of relief instead, subtly glancing at the few people who had followed.

There were six of them.

Lu Yanli felt happy.

His gaze swept over the passengers, and suddenly his eyes froze, then he immediately looked away, pretending not to see.

That person… why is that person always standing on tiptoes?
