Chapter 17

Lu Yanli pulled out the talisman he kept close to his body, the one the Taoist priest had given him earlier.

Three people, one for each.

They had walked for so long, so long that their legs were sore and numb, yet they were… still in the same place.

Raising his head, the bright red “4” was still in the distance. Even through the thick blood fog, it still appeared clearly on the snow-white wall.

As long as they wasted time, preferably dragging it out until two days later, they could be temporarily free.

Lu Yanli slowed his breathing again, identified the direction, waved away the almost-condensed blood fog trying to get into his eyes, and stumbled as he clung to the railing to go upstairs.

He glanced at the time displayed on his phone.

It was already past two o’clock, and the stairwell was a dark scarlet color except for the small light from his phone.

Where were the other two?

His head was getting dizzier.

The path to survival, what exactly was it?

Lu Yanli grabbed his own neck, giving himself a hard pinch. Soon, the feeling of suffocation made him clear-headed. He shook his head, took out the last remaining bus ticket from his pocket, and waved it in front of his eyes.

Two things together should be better than one, right?

The next moment, the ticket was scalding hot, and the talisman in his hand also burst into flames. The flames seemed to have some other function, instantly dispelling a lot of the blood fog, and a patch of pure black, devoid of blood fog, suddenly appeared in front of him.

Li Fangzhi stood quietly in the corner. The talisman given by the Taoist priest was stuck to her forehead at some point. Her whole body was stiff, and her skin was sunken. The moment the light flashed, her head slowly turned, and her eyes behind the talisman looked over through the thin blood fog.

She had already been mutated.

He Lou was better off. He was squatting on the ground, constantly trembling, as if trying his best to restrain something. Lu Yanli stumbled back, patted him on the shoulder.

He Lou paused and turned his head.

A vaguely greenish face was smiling foolishly.

Good, there was still hope.

Lu Yanli unceremoniously beat him up, and tore up the talisman in his hand. Only then did he sober up.

This was why he had to eliminate some people first – since they were going to become zombies and even actively seek him out, it meant the task was related to him. If those idiots were still around, they would never become a help, but only a burden!

“That Taoist priest has a problem,” Lu Yanli gasped, pointing to Li Fangzhi in the corner, who had completely turned into a zombie. He Lou understood immediately, and a chill rose from the bottom of his heart.

Almost… he almost stuck that talisman on his forehead.

After the talismans on their bodies were gone, perhaps it was just his imagination, but the concentration of blood fog around them seemed to decrease slightly. They could perceive that these mists were all drifting towards the area where Li Fangzhi was, slowly disappearing into the talisman on her forehead.

Lu Yanli reached out and carefully touched Li Fangzhi.

The two carefully moved Li Fangzhi to the front of the elevator, guessing that the little ghost should have left, and pressed the button.

Lu Yanli pushed Li Fangzhi in, pressing her down on the child, and quickly pressed the button.

Before the elevator doors closed, he could still see the child’s instantly resentful and ferocious eyes.

“Let’s go,” Lu Yanli pulled He Lou.

Before He Lou could scold him, the sudden drop in temperature froze his whole body. A chill rose from the soles of his feet, and the blood in his body seemed to congeal.

Lu Yanli asked him loudly, “How do you feel?”

“Are you cold?”

He Lou nodded, making a sound.

After waiting for a while, seeing that He Lou had no other abnormalities, Lu Yanli followed and stepped into 405.

His first reaction was cold, so cold that he shivered.

The chill rose from the soles of his feet, as if his whole body was locked in a refrigerator. Lu Yanli even had the leisure to think wildly: Could this be the zombie’s refrigerator?

“Search… let’s search.”

It was just cold, and Lu Yanli felt he could still bear it. He identified the direction in the darkness, wrapped his clothes tightly, and walked into the house.

It was pitch black, and it was difficult to see. He Lou took out his phone, shivering, and turned on the flashlight.

The moment the light came on, both of them froze in place.

On the walls, on the ceiling, on the tables, chairs, refrigerator, coffee table…

All of them were densely covered with posters of a woman!

On the forehead of the woman in each poster, there was a yellow talisman with scarlet patterns, and strands of red thread were connected between the talismans. Yellow copper bells were hung in all directions.

“We, can’t touch them randomly…”

If they accidentally knocked off the talismans, the red threads, or accidentally touched the woman’s face, then the consequences would definitely not be what they wanted to see.

So the Taoist priest was lying to them when he implied that there was no danger in the building?

The path to survival… where was it?

Where could they find the inter layer?

Lan Zhiyu Ocean Park.

Junior sister Li escaped, running all the way in this direction. Before she left, her uncle gave her another copper bell. Now, both flying zombies were hers. She lay on one of the flying zombies, driving them to rush over there.

The puppet was Guan Yunlong in 405.

Inside apartment 405, He Lou and Lu Yanli cautiously retreated towards the door.

The stairwell was pitch black. The phone flashlight shone on a pair of shoes.

Those shoes looked familiar.

The light moved upwards, all the way to the face of that figure. It was Li Fangzhi.

She stood quietly in place, her cheeks completely sunken, her face green, her arms stretched out stiffly.

And on her forehead, the talisman that should have restrained her had disappeared!
