Chapter 4

Damn it, what the hell is this?

Why are there zombies?

Originally, everyone escaped outside because there were fewer women’s posters outside the station. Now that the threat of the posters has temporarily subsided, He Lou simply led everyone back into the station.

Is this all we can do, just run?

The influence of the blood fog still seems to be present. He Lou’s thoughts are a bit muddled, and the Li Fangwan and Li Fangzhi sisters are the same, only thinking about running and avoiding the zombies’ pursuit.

In fact, they all know there is another way.

Just tear off a woman’s poster and stick it on the zombie.

But no one did it.

This suggestion is as childish and ridiculous as a group of mice discussing how to avoid a cat, and the answer is to tie a bell around the cat’s neck.

Who will do it? Who is willing to sacrifice themselves for others?

Everyone knows that rashly touching these weird things will surely lead to death. Even if they return to their original world, the curse from the evil spirit may penetrate the barrier between the two worlds, and then, unintentionally… kill you.

“Everyone, now… let’s look for clues again, and be careful not to touch the posters.”

The hard wooden table was as soft as tofu in the face of its fingernails.

It’s not hard to imagine what would happen to a human body…

Li Fangwan and her sister also said, “Everyone, take a look and see if there’s any information to be found.”

Lu Yanli was also looking around.

Clues… what exactly are clues? Where are they?

He put on his mask and hood. His heavy breathing was muffled by the fabric, perhaps that’s why the zombies didn’t chase him much.

Huang Wei frowned. “What’s there to burn here? There’s no firewood, just posters everywhere. Can I burn these things?”

“Well, in the movies, they also say you can hold your breath, why don’t you try that?”

“He Lou, you try it!”

Hearing this, He Lou really held his breath as they said. However, the zombies still chased after him. He quickly took a deep breath and panted, answering, “It doesn’t work!”

The others had no choice but to continue helping to find clues. They had now agreed that every five minutes, another person would distract the zombies to allow them to search for clues.

Lu Yanli originally wanted to take over the responsibility, but He Lou asked someone else to replace him.

In the current situation, no matter who has an accident, Lu Yanli can’t have an accident. If they can’t reach Lu Yanli’s residence smoothly… then everyone will die! No one can escape!

Li Fangwan helped her from the side, her eyes scanning around. Suddenly, her gaze froze.

She noticed the poster plastered on the glass window of the ticket office.

She had noticed it before. The poster was pasted squarely, and unlike other posters, it didn’t have any fancy backgrounds. At first glance, you might think there was a real person sitting there…

It was as if there really was a person sitting there…

This, this is… what is this?!!

“Sis! Get out of the way!!!”

Li Fangzhi’s scream came from afar.

Walls and tables could be pierced, so what about the ground?

Li Fangzhi looked at Lu Yanli gratefully, rushed over, and pulled Li Fangwan away.

“Get out of the way!!”

A can of gasoline was splashed on the still struggling and twitching zombie.

“Quick!!! Lighter!!”

The next second, a raging fire burst out, burning fiercely. The zombie immediately let out a violent roar.

The sound was very strange, sharp, hoarse, as if two rusty pieces of iron were rubbing against each other.

Huang Wei breathed a sigh of relief, “Well done!”

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, and smiled at each other.

The flames burned, crackling, and a wave of extremely nauseating stench came from the burning of rotten protein. The zombie, covered in flames, kept struggling and roaring, but still couldn’t break free. Gradually, its struggling strength diminished, and waves of extremely foul-smelling blood fog began to emanate from its body.

It was as if a balloon was leaking air, with wisps of blood fog drifting away.

“Is it about to die?” Huang Wei walked to the Li Fangwan and Li Fangzhi sisters, turning his head to comfort them, “What happened to you just now? Why did you suddenly stop moving?”

Li Fangwan’s face was pale, and she didn’t speak. Instead, Li Fangzhi glared at him. “What’s it to you? Scram!”

“I’m just concerned about the beauties.” Huang Wei was not angry, humming a ditty as he moved away.

The next second, he couldn’t hum his ditty anymore.

“Save me!! Fire!! Help me, ah ah ah ah!!”

“Save me!!”

His voice—was exactly that of the skinny tall guy before he turned into a zombie. The high temperature burned his whole body with stinging pain. He stumbled out of the small area with gasoline on it and tried his best to roll on the ground, begging for help with a voice that had been burned hoarse by the fire.

“Save me…”

To his despair, everyone stayed far away, no one saved him. Seeing him trying to roll his body over, Huang Wei grabbed the iron bar from Lu Yanli and poked him away.

His palms were still sweating, and he subconsciously turned his head and said, “He Lou, he he he’s soft.”

The feeling coming from the end of the iron bar was different from the cold, hard metallic feeling of the zombie before.

He really… turned back into a human.

Should they save him?

Everyone subconsciously avoided this question.

“We clearly saw him turn into a zombie, so why can he turn back into a human now? He must still have some kind of curse on him.”

“Besides, even if we want to save him now, it’s too late. There’s no fire extinguisher here, how can we save him?”

They found their reasons without being taught, keeping an eye on the surrounding environment while closely watching the entire process of the zombie being burned.

This experience might be useful in the future.

Lu Yanli opened his mouth, “How about…”

Another person stopped him, “How about what? You want to save him? Who knows if it’s a human or a zombie now?”

So Lu Yanli had to shrink back. He turned his head and covered his nose. The others thought he hadn’t seen this before and was afraid to look, so they didn’t pay attention.

Under the brim of his hat, a hint of mockery flashed quickly in his eyes.

“Save… me…”

The air was filled with the burnt smell of barbecue.

You won’t save me?

Why won’t you save me?!

Why?!!

If I’m going to die, let’s all die together!!

Soon, he stopped moving. Even so, the corpse still hugged the telegraph pole tightly with flames.

No one knew that the last expression on this corpse’s face before death was a smile.

Whether he died or not, the others didn’t care.

The only thing they cared about was—there were two flyers of that woman pasted on the telegraph pole.

“Damn it, he’s crazy! Why does he have to drag us down with him when he’s going to die?!”

They were really going crazy.

The flyers were smeared with black, oily, unidentified substances. The edges were burned by the fire, turning yellow and curling inward…

It wasn’t just one, almost all the flyers began to show signs of curling up before being burned.

It’s over…

This was the voice of almost everyone present.

“Run!!”

The crowd scattered and fled.

This time, there wasn’t even a chewing sound, and a person had disappeared.

What was worse was that the blood fog instantly became incredibly thick.

Through the thick layer of blood fog, Lu Yanli saw that the woman’s expression was not happy because she had eaten someone. On the contrary, her cold and sinister gaze swept over the others, as if she was pondering which one to eat next.

The only thing fortunate was that the current woman didn’t seem to need to devour others through the blood fog. She preferred to use her tongue to savor them. For this reason, Lu Yanli only felt stuffy in the fog. He tried to dispel the sticky, bloody mist and carefully searched for what he wanted.

This… looks like it’s not quite qualified.

But, let’s try it first.

He didn’t run away like the others, but went into the interior of the station, dragging a dark, lumpy thing in his hand, passing through the heavy blood fog, and went straight to the ticket window.

Behind him, someone raised a knife…

Lu Yanli suddenly turned around.

This blood fog seemed to have no effect on him at all. With the two of them close together, it was easy for Lu Yanli to find out who it was.

“What do you want to do?!” he cried out in horror.

If that person could see his expression through the blood fog, at least see the eyes hidden under his hat, he wouldn’t have chosen to offend him.

The next second, in the blood fog, the noise returned to calm.

“Crunch, crunch…” the sound of chewing rang out.

On the other side, the blood fog became increasingly thick.

Everyone had run away, their eyes only filled with the thick, unyielding scarlet color. They couldn’t see the surrounding scenery clearly, and their nasal cavities were also full of heavy bloody smells. It was as if, in an instant, this place had turned into a bloody hell on earth.

A figure spun around in the blood fog, and behind that figure, a long, slippery tongue slowly emerged.

The blood fog came quickly and dissipated quickly. Before long, the space returned to its original scene, as if the blood-red color in front of it just now was all an illusion.

“What’s going on? Are we saved?”

Huang Wei was suspicious and uncertain. He had just run very, very far, and when he opened his eyes, he found himself back where he started, still standing at the entrance of the station, not far in front of him was a telegraph pole with black, unidentified substances, still emitting a burnt smell.

All the women’s posters had returned to calm, with gentle expressions.

Huang Wei sighed, “I don’t know, let’s wait. They’ll come over later.”

Who broke the situation? How did he find the way out?

Was it He Lou? Or the Li sisters?

He didn’t count the kind-hearted and timid youth in front of him at all.

“Strange, that guy’s… what about it?” Huang Wei was wary, not saying the word “corpse.” He raised his chin, indicating that the charred corpse under the telegraph pole was gone.

Lu Yanli was also surprised, shaking his head: “I don’t know, I didn’t see it when I came over just now. Could it be that it was…” He hinted at the posters on the telegraph pole.

“I didn’t expect it, it even eats barbecue.” Huang Wei muttered.
