1TWITF[C Chapter 57
by REX-NOVELISTSChapter 57
Staring at a strange man holding a mirror backwards.
Lu Yanli stopped in place.
But strangely, Lu Yanli didn’t sense any danger. These students seemed to be just looking at him.
Had the ghosts stopped killing?
Had he not triggered a death mechanism?
Or was it really that god protecting him?
Lu Yanli didn’t believe it himself.
Seeing that the students weren’t making any moves, he waited quietly for another two minutes, slowly planning to walk out.
Despite not sensing any danger, being among this group of students made him feel uncomfortable. Lu Yanli decided to find a glass window to see what was in the mirror through the reflection.
However, as soon as he raised his hand, all the students raised their hands in perfect unison.
They were still silently looking at Lu Yanli, their expressions unchanged, but Lu Yanli still felt a physiological tremor at the instant of death’s arrival.
Why?
Was it because he moved?
Would any action trigger death?
Lu Yanli struggled to understand, but based on his hundreds, even thousands, of past experiences dealing with the paranormal, this wasn’t the most absurd reason. If described using human terms, ghosts’ logic was inherently chaotic and twisted, unrelated to the causal retribution of traditional ghost stories. He had survived so many missions, only barely managing to figure out some of the laws.
A thin layer of frost had already formed on his fingertips.
His thumb rubbed against the smooth mirror surface, and Lu Yanli couldn’t make up his mind.
The students all turned their heads to look at the darkened teaching building, their faces showing fear.
Lu Yanli’s heart also trembled.
That figure… was coming for him!
He wanted to run, but the instant he lifted his leg, the students all turned their heads to look at him again, still with that emotionless, inorganic gaze that showed no malice, but Lu Yanli knew that if he really took that step, he would surely die!
Lu Yanli had to stop. His brain was now working at lightning speed, trying to find a glimmer of hope.
Soon, it was this building’s turn.
The lights went out floor by floor.
Lu Yanli could already hear its footsteps coming upstairs, along with his own heart beating frantically like a drum in his chest.
He looked around again.
Nowhere to go, no blind spots.
But Lu Yanli clearly sensed that something was different.
Before he had time to think about it, the figure had already reached the corner on the third floor.
The lights on the third floor went out.
In the darkness, it raised a pale face and looked straight at Lu Yanli. For some reason, Lu Yanli felt that the face looked familiar, but he was sure he had never seen it before.
This thought flashed through his mind in an instant. Ignoring everything else, Lu Yanli looked down at the mirror, allowing it to reflect his face.
Enter the mirror world, find Chu Xiu, let him complete the game, and there might be a glimmer of hope.
A pale hand reached out and grabbed his ankle, then the hand pulled hard, dragging Lu Yanli into the mirror.
As soon as he landed, Lu Yanli’s eyes widened.
This is…
He was actually standing in a classroom, surrounded by students sitting at their desks, attentively looking at the blackboard. On the podium, a teacher was staring at him unkindly.
The other students all turned to look at him.
Lu Yanli was certain that this wasn’t his school. The uniforms worn by the surrounding students were clearly from Fourth High School. And the teacher standing on the podium, he had some impression of him; he was one of the people who had been chasing him earlier.
“Teacher, I need to go to the restroom.” After a quick scan, he confirmed that there was no danger outside the door and said calmly.
The teacher’s expression was unpleasant, but he still waved his hand, letting him go out.
Lu Yanli walked out the door under the students’ gloomy gazes. He looked up at the sky, which was gloomy and overcast, as if sunlight was obscured by layers of heavy clouds.
So, where was the key to the mirror world?
And where was Chu Xiu? If he died, it would be very troublesome for him to leave.
Lu Yanli walked towards the restroom, comparing the scenery before him with the campus he remembered. It was clearly exactly the same, but he still felt something strange, unable to pinpoint what was wrong.
What exactly was… wrong?
Soon, Lu Yanli reached the end of the corridor.
A mirror was hanging outside the restroom, and he saw his face in the mirror.
It was only now that he suddenly came to his senses.
The doors of the classrooms he had just passed didn’t have any signs, and even the blackboards didn’t have any writing on them, as if they were afraid he would discover something.
Lu Yanli stared at himself in the mirror, vaguely noticing that his appearance was a little different.
Was it the result of the image in the mirror being mirrored again?
Lu Yanli lowered his hand and took two steps back to look.
He wasn’t wearing a school uniform, but those people didn’t seem to notice anything wrong.
Just then, he suddenly bumped into a figure behind him. Lu Yanli stiffened and almost instantly moved two steps forward, directly into the restroom entrance.
Why wasn’t it reflected in the mirror?
What was behind him…?
Should he turn around?
Lu Yanli composed himself and turned around, finding a middle-aged man staring at him with suspicion.
This man… was clearly the shadow that had appeared inexplicably on campus! Now, he was like an ordinary middle-aged man, wearing a security guard uniform, patrolling the school and asking students.
“I’m going back right away,” Lu Yanli said.
He didn’t think this person was an ordinary security guard.
With that, he turned around and went back to the sink, turned on the faucet, his heart pounding, but his eyes were fixed on the mirror without blinking.
In the mirror, he could still only see himself.
Lu Yanli washed his hands and calmly passed by him. As he brushed past, he tilted his head slightly, looking at the other man through the oblique angle of the front glass window. The other man was also looking at him.
Who was he? Why did he feel somewhat familiar?
Lu Yanli couldn’t figure it out.
He didn’t plan to return to the classroom, so he calmly walked to the other end of the corridor, pretending that the classroom was at the very end, then turned and ran downstairs.
Lu Yanli went to another teaching building. He planned to try to find the principal’s office.
In the mirror world, would there also be that “god”?
“Chu Xiu?”
“Lu Yanli?”
Lu Yanli briefly explained his situation. Chu Xiu had originally been about to leave the building, but now he accompanied him, hobbling laboriously upstairs.
“What are you going to do, look for the principal? Actually, I suspect that the school’s abnormality is related to the principal.”
“It is indeed related to him, and also to that ‘god’,” Lu Yanli explained. “There’s also a statue of that god in his office.”
“Why are they everywhere?” Chu Xiu realized the seriousness of the situation.
The game a few days ago had become chaotic and illogical because of its participation. If this game also had its shadow, wouldn’t it be…
The two of them soon arrived at the door of the principal’s office. After knocking, there was no response, so they picked the lock and entered directly, closing the door behind them.
The office was empty. They didn’t know where the principal had gone.
Lu Yanli came to the bookcase and raised his chin slightly.
Chu Xiu walked forward, made sufficient mental preparations, and gently pulled open the cabinet door.
The bright red statue was like blood. They couldn’t make out her appearance and could only vaguely use words like eerie and distorted to describe it.
Chu Xiu immediately closed the cabinet door.
“You should honor the promise you made earlier,” Lu Yanli signaled.
Judging by his meaning, he actually intended to have Chu Xiu take this statue away directly.
“We’re still in the mirror world, not outside yet. Can’t we wait until we get out?” Chu Xiu said, “I definitely won’t go back on my word. I’ll record a video to prove it.”
Lu Yanli thought for a moment and slowly shook his head.
What he wanted to know was whether the “god” in his world could have an impact on someone from another world. After he completed the game, he would leave directly. Where would he go to find him?
Chu Xiu looked troubled.
He was planning to argue with the other man, but suddenly, the sound of a lock being opened came from outside the door.
“Crap!”
The two of them exchanged a look and saw the same meaning in each other’s eyes, immediately flashing away to hide. Fortunately, the principal’s office was large enough and luxurious enough, with plenty of furniture. Hiding two people wasn’t a problem.
At this moment, one of them was hiding behind the curtains of the bookcase against the wall, and the other was hiding under the tea table, carefully observing through the gaps.
Unexpectedly, it wasn’t the principal who came in, but a man of medium height, wearing a hood, unable to see his face clearly.
Lu Yanli recognized the newcomer, his eyebrows slightly raised.
Was it him?
Who was he? What was he doing here?
After the man flashed into the office, his sharp eyes scanned the room. He went straight to the desk, looked through the documents on the surface, then opened the drawers and searched, not knowing what he was looking for.
After searching through several drawers, he began to rummage through the safe, trying to open it. After fiddling with it for a while, he actually managed to open it!
He reached in and pulled out a stack of documents, and just one look made him beam with joy. He was about to take out his camera to take pictures when the door was suddenly pushed open heavily!
“Who are you?! What are you doing here?” The dean of students pushed the door open and shouted angrily.
“This…” After one glance, they both felt a little dizzy.
Lu Yanli took out a small mirror that he carried with him, placed the edge of it next to the paper, and began to read word by word.
As he narrated, their expressions gradually became serious.
It turned out to be a liability waiver from a parent, stating that although the parent was very sad about their child’s accidental death at school, they had decided not to hold the school responsible.
The next one was still a liability waiver.
And the next one, still.
The two of them took out the thick stack of documents inside, and they were all of them, but with different names of parents and students.
“How many things have happened at this school?” It actually needed so many waivers.
The recorded data on them startled both of them.
“On X year, X month, X day, two students from Senior High (2) went to Yinming Road and went missing…”
One sheet after another, making Chu Xiu feel cold all over.
Even though he had gradually lost his humanity due to long-term missions and the death of his sister, Chu Xian, he had never imagined that the school would use students for such experiments.
The person just now should have come to get the experimental reports.
Like Chu Xiu, Lu Yanli was also shocked, but what shocked him was something else.
On one of the missing persons reports, he saw a familiar face and name.
An Xingyu.
This discovery was so shocking that it even made it difficult for him to breathe.
